Homicide Investigation — Uxbridge (Ariel Kaplan)

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at approximately 2:40 p.m., police were called to a property on Concession Road 6 near Allbright Road in the Town of Uxbridge after human remains were discovered within a hockey bag floating on a pond on the property.
The remains were sent to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, which confirmed the identity of the male victim as Ariel Kaplan, age 32, of Toronto. Mr. Kaplan had been reported missing to the Toronto Police Service in early September 2021.
The missing person investigation indicated he was last seen in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue in Toronto on August 29, 2021. Mr. Kaplan was known to reside in an apartment near Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill.
The Durham Regional Police Homicide Unit is working jointly with the Toronto Police Service and is appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who spoke with or saw Mr. Kaplan prior to his disappearance.
